“What would make today easier?”
A practical Cardiff Mums guide focused on the access information families actually need — not vague “SEND friendly” labels.
Checked November 2026
What would make today easier?
If you need sensory-friendly support: look for sensory bags, ear defenders, visual stories and quiet spaces. Start with Techniquest or National Museum Cardiff.
If you need a relaxed session: look for lower capacity, reduced/no music and flexible movement. Start with Cardiff Children’s Play Services or Sherman Theatre.
If you need inclusive sport: look for adaptive equipment, tailored instruction or extra support. Start with Cardiff Pedal Power or Boulders.
If you want a big experience made more manageable: look for sensory rooms, relaxed performances and access planning. Start with Cardiff City FC or Sherman Theatre.
If you need a teen or young-adult social option: look for ALN-specific youth clubs and supported activities. Start with Cardiff Youth Service’s inclusive youth clubs in Gabalfa or Cathays.
If personal-care access is essential: check Changing Places, step-free routes and accessible toilets before travelling.
If budget matters: free and community provision can make it easier to leave early if a visit is not working.
Important: SEND/ALN needs are individual. A published feature does not mean a venue will suit every child or young person. Contact the venue directly when a particular adjustment, piece of equipment or support is essential.

How this guide uses “SEND / ALN-friendly”
We do not treat SEND/ALN as one single need. Each listing focuses on specific published features such as sensory resources, quiet spaces, relaxed sessions, adaptive equipment, Changing Places facilities or dedicated provision.
Useful feature tags: Sensory · Quiet Space · Relaxed · Visual Story · Ear Defenders · Wheelchair · Changing Places · Adaptive Equipment · Hoist · SEND-Specific · Teens · Free
The aim is simple: show what we actually know, rather than expecting families to interpret a generic badge.
